About The Inferno Doll

How do get to know someone? You can stalk their socials but if you want to bypass small talk and get to know your favorite bands and artists beyond the surface level, this is the place to be. Sometimes the oddball questions allow you to learn the most interesting things about a person and see the varied, unique, and special qualities of a creative mind. Shall we?

Welcome to Metal Digest’s ABOUT. column

Please introduce the band in the most spontaneous way.

Hello, I’m Laura, voice and founder of The Inferno Doll. I came from Chile, I live in Canada now. I make Vampiric Gothic Metal and my biggest inspiration is “Dracula” by Bram Stoker

What’s something an outsider wouldn’t know about your band?

That I’m a solo artist, and my music is inspired by Gothic Horror & Literature, and I’m a big fan of “Dracula”.

What’s the career highlight you’re most proud of?

There have been a few, but after I left my band and started as a solo artist, a couple of weeks before coming to Canada, I put up a live show as The Inferno Doll. Putting the show together on my own was an Odyssey but it turned out to be an incredible experience and a packed venue with happy fans. It was such a great night.

Lyrics that stuck with you?

There have been so many. At this exact moment I’m stuck with the lyrics (and song) “Cuts you up” by Peter Murphy.

What’s the phone app you use most?

Spotify, Kindle, Google Maps

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

I would be reading a book with a nice cup of tea and my cats. Or go for a long bicycle ride or a walk. Hang with friends, and visit my favourite bookstore.

Are you more of a “play music to live” or a “live to play music” type of person?

Music has been part of my life since I was a little kid so I cannot imagine living without having music around.

How would your 10-year-old self-react to what you do now?

I think she would be proud.

What career advice would you give to young musicians in the rock and metal industry?

Things don’t happen overnight. There’s a lot of hard work to do to reach your goals. So, if you want this, do it with all your heart, learn how to market yourself, and ask for help when needed. Be humble and do what you love.

If you could do it all over again, would you pursue the same career in music?

Yes. Absolutely!
