There is no doubt about it, when it comes to leading countries in the production of heavy metal, Germany is one of the best. One power metal band who have been leading the way in the modern era are Orden Ogan who released their fantastic ‘Final Days’ album last year and this year has the double O returning with all their mates for ‘Final Days: Orden Ogan and Friends’.

Yes ok, this is really not a new album and instead, ‘…and Friends’ is arguably a special edition of ‘Final Days’. Yet, as far as special editions go, Orden Ogan gathering their mates to perform tracks from that last album is a good shout and therefore what the listener gets here is an excellent roster of guests which adds another dimension to ‘Final Days’. From superb guitarists like of Gus G, through Canadian A lister Stu Block and legendary German vocalists Chris Boltendahl and Peavy Wagner, so much is brought to this release and although it wasn’t missing in the original, this is ‘Final Days’ with a different feel. Furthermore, ‘…and Friends’ delivers a fantastic orchestral version of ‘Fields of Sorrow’ and a brand-new track ‘December’ which is arguably one of the best tracks that Orden Ogan have released in a while.

Those who loved ‘Final Days’ will adore this album, it allows ‘…and Friends’ to been seen in a different light. ‘December’ adds some real firepower to an already decent album and any fan of power metal will find something cool.
