There are those bands which run happily on the hamster wheel of the heavy metal, they release an album, tour an album, rinse and repeat. One band who haven’t been running and drinking from those little bottles that hang into the cage are Autopsy who have released their first album since 2015 with ‘Morbidity Triumphant’.

Autopsy have always been down, dirty and gnarly compared to so many of their peers and ‘Morbidity Triumphant’ is no different. This is a surgical bloodbath of pure, unadulterated classic death metal. Yes, of course this means that there isn’t anything here that is shocking or even different, but we all know that because it is fucking Autopsy and ‘Morbidity Triumphant’ is well… triumphant. This album is a guttural beast and in true Autopsy form, with tracks such as ‘Skin By Skin’, ‘Knife Slice, Axe Chop’ and ‘Your Eyes Will Turn to Dust’ being massively enjoyable and also, what’s an Autopsy album without some nasty grooves, particularly during the track ‘Final Frost’, a track so fucking disgustingly Black Sabbath that any two bit doom and stoner band should hang their head in shame.

Those looking to get their hands on a decent album by a veteran death metal band doing what they do best then ‘Morbidity Triumphant’ is a fantastic choice and it would be no surprise if this was sitting high amongst some of the best death metal of the year.
