Southern Metal/Hard Rock
There are some bands which manage to bring the hospitality of the pub no matter where they are. As soon as you sit at that bar, there’s a cold beer in one hand, a cigarette in the other and ZZ Top blasting out from jukebox. One band capable of this are Beastwood who are back for the first time since 2019 with their latest EP ‘No Way Home’.
Straight from the off, this is good old Southern hospitality which takes the listener into their home, puts their feet up and doesn’t let the listener lift a finger. From this moment, Beastwood are on a journey with some real swagger and through these three tracks, Beastwood kick some serious ass with some low slinging riffs and with raucous vocals that hark back to the golden age of southern metal with ‘No Way Home’ having all the enjoyability of Corrosion of Conformity, Down and Black Label Society.
Yeah, of course, there isn’t anything here that hasn’t been done before. This is southern metal down to its core, it’s got some hard rock sensibilities but it’s not exactly brand new, but Beastwood deliver this sound very well and it sets the band up very well for what is hopefully a new studio album on the horizon.
"sets the band up very well a new studio album"
