Glam Punk/Punk

In the last decade, Michael Monroe has found himself in a huge purple patch as the Finnish legend and his band have delivered album after album of solid glam punk. This year has Monroe returning for the first time since 2019 with his latest album ‘I Live Too Fast to Die Young’.

Well, judging on the last ten years, it is no surprise that with ‘I Live Too Fast…’ Michael Monroe continues to plough forward with all the motorvatin’ gusto that has powered everything the flying Finn does. Monroe is like the Duracell Bunny, he just never stops and whilst you may think this would lead to stagnation and lacklustre creative, ‘I Live Too Fast…’ is literally ahead of the curve again. Of course this means that this album naturally has an air of Hanoi Rocks and Demolition 23; but there is much more to this album than just that; tracks such as ‘Young Drunks & Old Alcoholics’, ‘Murder in the Summer of Love’ and ‘All Fighter’ could slot in anywhere in Monroe’s career whereas ‘Derelict Palace’ and ‘Everybody’s Nobody’ could trick your ears into thinking they were lost Hanoi Rocks tracks whilst also being able to drag in fans of New York Dolls, The Clash and The Wildhearts.

With ‘I Live Too Fast…’ Monroe continues to show that he is the king of glam punk; this is an excellent album which begs itself to be played over and over again and it wouldn’t be surprising if ‘I Live Too Fast…’ is sat high at the end of the year.

"'I Live Too Fast to Die Young' shows that Michael Monroe is still the king of glam punk"
