Alternative Rock/Emo/Power Pop/Pop Rock

Beginning c. 2003, there was a huge interest again in classic sounding rock n’ roll, they donned their denims, grew their hair long and their facial hair dodgily before going at it like it was 1974 all over again. However, a lot of those bands got a little older and evolved their sound as they found their own identity. One such band were Lucer and this year has the Danish rockers returning with their latest ‘The New World’.

Now, the first thing to note is that there really hasn’t been a massive shift in style, but what has changed is that Lucer have now placed a bedrock of real modern alternative and pop/rock down. This means that ‘The New World’ is aptly named as it indeed ushers in a brave new world of electrobeats and synth effects which drive this album forward with tracks such as ‘Trouble’, ‘Empire’ and ‘One of Us’ having all the stadium pleasing authority of not only Biffy Clyro and Twin Atlantic but also All Time Low, Fall Out Boy and Boys Like Girls. ‘The New World’ is beautifully produced by Christoffer Stjerne of H.E.R.O. meaning that this album is pristine quality, it is very modern, contemporary and brimming with pop sensibilities and melodies which make ‘The New World’ a very infectious and memorable listen.

For those who like their music heavy or rock n’ roll with oil-stained Levi’s, then ‘The New World’ will not be for you. However, for those who like their music with stadium bouncing songs delivered with a pop/rock edge, then this latest offering from Lucer is something to check out.

"perfect for those who like their rock with pop sensibilities and a sleek contemporary sound"
