This morning in the Metal Digest office, we’re turning up the volume on ‘Piece of Mind’, the 1983 album from Iron Maiden. You have to ask yourself the question: “how the hell do you follow up an album like ‘The Number of the Beast’? Especially after losing an integral part of the band with Clive Burr on drums. Well, if you’re Iron Maiden, you get Nicko McBrain on drums, write ‘Piece of Mind’ and continue your conquering of the globe. To this day, ‘Piece of Mind’ remains fixed as many Maiden fans’ favourite album with tracks like the ‘The Trooper’, ‘Revelations’ and ‘Flight of Icarus’ standing alongside superb deeper cuts like ‘Still Life’ and ‘Where Eagles Dare’. Furthermore, ‘Piece of Mind’ even contains one of Maiden’s most requested live tracks that was never performed in ‘Dune’, sorry, ‘To Tame a Land’. So this morning, crank the volume up loud and remember don’t meddle with things you don’t understand!
