Dig out any proper list of ‘the best heavy metal albums of 1982’ and if Tank’s ‘Filth Hounds of Hades’ isn’t on the list, then it sadly isn’t worth the paper that it is printed on. This album is simple one of the best offerings from the NWOBHM era that over the years has fallen into hidden gem territory. Thankfully, this year has High Roller Records reissuing ‘Filth Hounds…’ on both CD and vinyl to provide us with the opportunity to grab an album which has fallen out of print.
Whatever is your medium of choice, High Roller Records have you covered, the CD version of ‘Filth Hounds…’ not only comes with a two-sided poster of the mighty Tank, but it also has a few bonus tracks, the most important of which contains Tank’s debut EP ‘Don’t Walk Away’ and it is worth it just for that alone. Yet, if you are of the vinyl persuasion, then ‘Filth Hounds…’ comes housed in a heavy cardboard cover with a 7mm spine, two double sided posters and three A5 photo cards within a special envelope alongside a 20-page A4 booklet. Furthermore, what the purchaser also gets is a 10” p/s with a black, red, orange and bone insert. Moreover, when it comes to the ‘Filth Hounds…’ vinyl itself, it is available in black, orange and grey bi colour, bone with a red splatter as well as a mixed red and blue with a white and orange multi splatter.
When it comes to reissues done with care and integrity then this ‘Filth Hounds…’ is done perfectly and if you’re looking to reacquire this album, then this is the best opportunity you’ll get to get your paws on one of heavy metal’s best albums.
