Melodic Death/Power Metal

This afternoon in the Metal Digest office we’re blasting out a real classic of the late 90’s with ‘Hatebreeder’, the sophomore album from Children of Bodom (CoB). With ‘Hatebreeder’, CoB really found their stride as Finland’s wild child took melodic death metal and power metal and melded them together in a way which only Alexi Laiho could that created a watershed moment in 1999 when the world was enthralled with nu-metal. With this in mind, CoB began to push more and more boundaries and tracks such as ‘Silent Night, Bodom Night’, ‘Bed of Razors’ and ‘Downfall’ showed a band well and truly with their star ascent to become one of the biggest metal bands on the planet. So this afternoon, crank it up loud and get your best shredding face on because we’re pounding our war heart hard!
