This afternoon in the Metal Digest office, we’re blasting out ‘Circle’, the 2013 album from Finland’s progressive death metal/melodic heavy metal masters Amorphis. Although ‘Circle’ may be a far cry from the music that made them famous, but Amorphis’ recent output has been equally, if not better than that early work. For the last 20 years, Amorphis have been forging their own path and although melody has always been at the heart of everything the Finns do, with ‘Circle’ it is now the most prominent with beautiful melodies sweeping throughout, encapsulating everything Amorphis are out these days. So this afternoon, put your feet up and chill out to a beautiful album that just oozes class with every note.
