BORKNAGAR North American Tour Starts Next Week

Norway’s avant-garde black metal innovators BORKNAGAR are making their long overdue return to North America stages as part of the “Devastation Of The Nation” tour with Rotting Christ, Abigail Williams, Ghost Bath, Vale Of Pnath and Stormruler for a comprehensive tour starting next week, April 21stin Berkeley and ending a month later, on May 22nd in Los Angeles. “The past two years have been tough, tough for all of us. But after almost two years in the dark, due to international travel restrictions and lock-downs that have made international touring impossible, the sun seems to be back to shine upon us. As I write this we are in the final stages of preparations to the “Devastation Of The Nation” tour across the whole of the USA and Canada with our friends in Rotting Christ, Abigail Williams, Ghost Bath, Vale Of Pnath and Stormruler,” states BORKNAGAR founder and mastermind Øystein G. Brun.  “After delays and eventually a cancellation of this tour in 2020 due to the pandemic, we are so stoked and excited to finally be able get going. It has been a rugged road and we could not have done this without our loyal and persistant partners such as: Ruben @ Talentnation, Daniel @ Devastation of the Nation tour, Marc @ Play America and Christine @ Fountain Feller Group Inc. and last but not least the support by Music Norway. Thank you so much for all the efforts! Finally to our fellow gunslingers on this ride: We shall have a great time and make some musical history that lingers on for a long, long time! Let’s do this.” adds Brun.

Throughout 2022, BORKNAGAR continue to promote the latest album release, True North (2019), and their special 25th Anniversary re-issue of their pioneering self-titled debut album, which was recently released worldwide via the band’s longtime label partner Century Media Records. Initially released in 1996, Borknagar saw Øystein G. Brun recruiting a phenomenal cast of like-minded musicians, such as Garm (Ulver, ex Arcturus) doing the vocals, drummer Grim (ex-Immortal, Gorgoroth and Ancient), Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved) on keyboards and bassist Infernus (Gorgoroth), to enter the notorious halls of Grieghallen Studios with the goal of rupturing the peripheries of what was then deemed “traditional” Black Metal. The new deluxe edition of the album, entitled Borknagar (25th Anniversary Re-issue 2021), marks the definitive version of this pioneering Norwegian Metal classic, and includes a careful remaster of the 10 track LP courtesy of Øystein G. Brun, a makeover for the original artwork, profound liner notes, exclusive photos and a bonus disc full of previously unheard material from the band vaults. The limited Digipak 2CD (with 12 bonus tracks / 60 min.) and the limited Gatefold 2LP on 180g black vinyl (with 8 bonus tracks / 37 min.) can be ordered HERE. Check out a sample teaser of Borknagar (25th Anniversary Re-issue 2021) to get an impression of the re-issue, HERE, and check out a visualizer clip for the track “Dauden (Remaster 2021)” created by Wanderley Perna / W Designer, HERETrue North received rave reviews in the media and was named “Album of the month” by publications like Metal Hammer (Germany), Legacy (Germany) or also Scream (Norway). The album scored several international sales chart rankings upon release as follows: Germany: #31, Switzerland: #34, Finland: #42, Austria: #56, Sweden (Physical Albums): #46, USA (Billboard Heatseekers): #12, USA (Billboard Hard Rock): #22 as well as ITunes Charts: Canada: #70, Italy: #77, Germany: #86 and Finland: #94.
