Some bands just know how to party, Van Halen, Mötley Crüe and Guns N’ Roses, back in the day, these bands oozed liquor, dope, cocaine and women en masse before getting older, cleaning up their act and/or finding God. Now, the children that grew up listening to that music are partying themselves and one such band are Reckless Love, the Finnish glam metallers who are back with their latest offering ‘Turborider’.

From the start, Reckless Love waste no time in getting the party started by delivering immediate fist pumping energy that takes you into the back room, brings on the dancing girls and puts the champagne on ice. This is an 80’s sounding album delivered through a modern lens and there are a lot of electronic noises here that make the record big and cheesy, just the way we like it. This isn’t your piss take Steel Panther 80’s, this is glam metal the way we actually remember it as tracks such as ‘Eyes of a Maniac’, ‘Kids of the Arcade’ and the title track get us in the mood for either getting ready to go out or blaring out the speakers in a rock nightclub, hell, even the cover of Ozzy’s ‘Bark at the Moon’ is decent and given the pew pew disco drums makeover.

There are a couple of tracks here that are quite forgettable, but when it comes to good time party anthems, Reckless Love do it well and after four years away, it’s good to have the band back.
