
This afternoon in the Metal Digest office, we’re blasting out a real progressive rock/metal classic in the shape of ‘Deadwing’, the 2005 album by Porcupine Tree. For prog rock fans, ‘Deadwing’ was a Geddy Lee away from being the progressive rock wet dream motherlode. This was an album which featured guests such as Adrian Belew and Mikael Åkerfeldt and was delivered through a massively accessible sheen that managed to drag fans who wouldn’t necessarily have progressive rock as their genre, drawing fans from rock, metal and even pop with wonderful melodies and pleasing sonic aesthetics.
