Shall we?

Welcome to Metal Digest’s ABOUT. column

Please introduce the band in the most spontaneous way.

Triumph is a war metal band from Reno, NV formed in 2019

What’s something an outsider wouldn’t know about your band?

Most people who aren’t familiar with the band probably wouldn’t know it’s a one-man band and that all the music is self-recorded

What’s the career highlight you’re most proud of?

As of right now my second full-length album that was just released in March 2022 is my biggest accomplishment as a band. Also, I got session members so we can play live for the first time later this year. Our first live performance will be at Dead Ascension festival in El Paso at the end of October 2022. This will be a great achievement for me personally as it will be my first time playing drums/doing lead vocals simultaneously. I am really looking forward to that, it will be an honor to be a part of that amazing festival.

Lyrics that stuck with you?

All of my lyrics are based off of strength, will power, and annihilation. Here is a verse off the top of my head that has stuck with me just to give an example of how I write: Attack the Enslaver with odiumVengeance warfare the absolute lawDevastating blow of disruptionAbolish the dishonorable dogsTo walk the path of the superiorIs to triumph and walk amongst godsIron will the key to swift victoryRelinquishment of all eternal flaws

What’s the phone app you use most?

YouTube and Facebook

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

I’m usually always working on either writing, recording, mixing music, or playing shows on my days off. When I need a break from music though I also enjoy playing video games, watching movies, shooting, the outdoors, snowboarding, working out, and spending time with my family

Are you more of a “play music to live” or a “live to play music” type of person?

I would say I live to play music because honestly, that’s all I care about right now. My entire life revolves around it. It is my therapy/passion and I absolutely love everything about underground extreme metal.

How would your 10-year-old self-react to what you do now?

I would probably be very surprised because I didn’t get very into metal music until my junior year in high school. Once I did though I became obsessed and knew it was my calling right away though because I had never been so moved/inspired by anything before.

What career advice would you give to young musicians in the rock and metal industry?

Metal to me = strength and willpower. If you’re not going to give 100% of your time and effort then it’s pointless.

There’s WAY too much weak metal out there in my opinion.

Everyone wants to be a rockstar but no one wants to put in the work. If you’re not gonna give it everything you got then you might as well just stay home and not even do it at all. It is also important to never give up no matter what, never let the world break you and shatter your dreams. Rise above weakness/societal standards and pour your entire heart and soul into what you do.

If you could do it all over again, would you pursue the same career in music?

I absolutely would do it all over again, it’s what I live for! Of course, it gets overwhelming and expensive at times but I wouldn’t have it any other way, I’ll be a metalhead till death!!! Hail the underground!!! Hail victory!!!

Thank you for the interview.
