This morning in the Metal Digest office, we’re blasting ‘On Through the Night’, the 1980 debut album from Def Leppard. For those fans of ‘Hysteria’ expecting big harmonies, digital drums and a massive pop production will be sorely disappointed here. This was Def Leppard at their most primal, raw, metal and many agree, best. ‘On Through the Night’ was the Sheffield lads pioneering forward in the NWOBHM movement, carving a path that would lead across the Atlantic towards America and into the big time. Yet, there are a lot of fan favourites here, ‘Wasted’ and ‘Rock Brigade’ still stand tall in the Def Leppard discography, so this morning, crank it loud and watch out, because they may just steal your sister!
