Progressive Metal

This morning in the Metal Digest office we’re blasting ‘When Dream and Day Unite’, the 1989 debut album from Dream Theater. This was the only album recorded with then vocalist Charlie Dominici who was replaced by James LaBrie. Although this is the sound of Dream Theater finding their progressive feet with many, many homages to both Queensryche and Rush and although the production is relatively shit, it remains a real cult favourite amongst Dream Theater fans to this day. So this morning, crank up this overlooked Dream Theater album and give those neighbours a real wake up call in 7/8 time.
