So much is written about Sodom, Destruction and Kreator that at times Tankard are often genuinely overlooked. Maybe this is because instead of propping the bar up at gigs, they’re more than likely slumped under it. However, this year has Tankard attempting to rectify this balance by releasing ‘For a Thousand Beers’, their latest boxset containing all their Noise Records albums… plus a little bit more!

So, right off the bat, the listener knows that ‘…Thousand Beers’ is a beast. What the listener gets are the 2017 Noise remasters of ‘Zombie Attack’, ‘Chemical Invasion’, ‘The Morning After’, ‘The Meaning of Life’, ‘Stone Cold Sober’, ‘Two-Faced’ and ‘The Tankard’ with their smooth, sleek remastered finish. But alongside this, ‘…Thousand Beers’ also includes the 1999 ‘The Alien’ EP as well as ‘The Tankwart’ EP and a DVD containing not only the ‘Fat, Ugly & Live’ and ‘Open All Night – Live in East Berlin’ videos, but also unreleased live material from both Eindhoven and Frankfurt in 1987. Those of the vinyl persuasion will also find that their vinyl circles come decorated in various colours with a splattered motif. Think fresh puke on the floor after a heavy night on the piss and you’ll get the idea of what the splattering looks like.

‘…Thousand Beers’ is a great way to celebrate Tankard’s Noise career. It is ideal for the massive Tankard fan and if you didn’t pick up any of the original Noise remasters in 2017, then this is a perfect way to get them all in one cool box set. Furthermore, vinyl is big business, so you can get them too here. However, this is limited edition, so get your fingers clicking because if you are a mega Tankard zealot, you really don’t want to miss out on this.
