This afternoon in the Metal Digest office, we’re turning up the volume on a real progressive metal gem with ‘The Art of Loss’, the 2016 album from Redemption. With this album, Ray Alder of Fates Warning continued to lead the vocal charge and was aided on the guitars by a couple of Megadeth alumni in the shape of Chris Poland, Marty Friedman and Chris Broderick who alongside a guest appearance from Armored Saint man John Bush gave ‘The Art of Loss’ some oomph. This album is serene, delicate and fragile, beautifully delivered from short punchy tracks like the title track, through sprawling beasts such as ‘Slouching Towards Bethlehem’, ‘Thirty Silver’ and the monstrous closing track ‘At Day’s End’. So this afternoon, kick back and appreciate some exceptional virtuoso musicianship.
Come on in!
