The music industry can be a cruel world, some bands release utter drivel and fill out stadiums, crapping into gold toilets and driving expensive cars whilst others release excellent albums that achieve little, the band breaks up and disappear into obscurity. One such band are Savage Grace and whilst the world may have forgotten about them, Hammerheart Records certainly haven’t as they reissue their sophomore album ‘After the Fall from Grace’.
Much like their debut album ‘Master of Disguise’ (also reissued by Hammerheart Records), ‘After the Fall…’ saw Savage Grace continuing their speed metal sound whilst improving their song writing skills. This reissue allows the listener to get these sounds fully remixed and remastered to a point which is so shiny that crows will try to steal it. ‘After the Fall…’ also comes with a collection of bonus tracks, most notably the ‘Ride Into the Night’ EP from 1987 which included a cover of ‘Burn’ by Deep Purple’, but also the listener gets a couple of live tracks recorded in 1982. Furthermore, as a 2 CD set, this reissue also features an original version of the album for those who don’t particularly like their sound tinkered with.
Once again, Hammerheart Records have released an excellent reissue delivered with the care and integrity needed for a record of this style and fans of speed metal should seek out this long-forgotten gem.
