Jena’s Top 5

After quite some time and looking forward to come back on the road, Jena proudly released their new album, “Graboid”.

We grabbed the opportunity to have a chat with them.

This is Jena’s Top 5

TOP 5 pieces of equipment that every musician must own.

We don’t think that you need high level equipment to make good music but there are for sure some things that you don’t want to miss as a band (not properly “equipment”, but in our view maybe more important than that).

  1. Band members that share the same interests and passions (in music and other stuff too)
  2. At least a night a week reserved to the band, to bond (and rehearse, from time to time we forgot about that, but yes, that’s crucial..)
  3. If you have the opportunity, a room with the basic equipment to play, listen to music, gather together in a place where you don’t annoy the neighborhood (and with beers); we are lucky to have our “cave”
  4. The instruments you need to achieve the sound you like (no need to spend a lot of money here)
  5. The most important piece of equipment to achieve powerful riffs and crushing sounds? Clearly a JENA gilet 🤘🏻

TOP 5 pieces of advice NOT to follow, to make it in the music industry.

Who knows, do we really want to “make it” in the music industry?

What we know is that all we really want is to make our own stuff as we like, throw it to the world and reach people on the same wave.

What to do? Here are some tips that represent our view about the argument.

  1. Divide et impera – everyone has his own talent, try to divide tasks and leave every single aspect of the “band company” to whom excels in that (this could be music composition, recordings, social media management, PR, etc..)
  2. Do not try to do something that no one is able to do, if possible delegate to professionals (you need to go on tour, invest in a booking agency, you have doubts about some things in the music industry? Ask your label.. or someone who knows the matter.. there’s no shame in asking for help)
  3. Accept critics and advices as a chance to analyze what your band is doing and how to improve that, there’s no place for ego (nor time)
  4. Try to reach for brutal honesty between band members.. everything goes south? That was not meant to be..
  5. Most important thing? A mystic JENA gilet 🤘🏻

TOP 5 clicks on your playlist. What are you currently listening to, on repeat?

Easy one!

  1. Killswitch Engage
  2. Black Label Society
  3. Down
  4. Pantera
  5. The Aristocrats

TOP 5 adventures you’ve been on with the band.

Pretty much every live we have been on.. we can’t wait for the Ibiza (April 1st) and East Europe (22nd, 23rd and 24th aprile) live shows!

TOP 5 ways in which your band is awesome.

  1. We basically know each other for about 4 years now, but working together and enjoying that has made us a family
  2. We come from different music genres (from jazz to trash metal, from crossover to southern), this mix prevent us from being too similar to the big Bands that dominate those genres
  3. Everyone has his own talent, we respect that e give space for it in the band
  4. Every rehearsal is an excuse for bonding, laugh and spent great time together
  5. Most important thing, and this should have been a secret, is that everyone of us has a JENA gilet!
