This morning in the Metal Digest office we’re blasting ‘The Gallery’, the 1995 album from Dark Tranquillity. ‘The Gallery’ is simply one of the defining records of the burgeoning melodic death metal sound which emanated from Gothenburg in the mid-90’s. This was an album which took acoustic parts, melded them with death metal and harsh vocals and laid the blueprint for near enough which all melodic death metal albums have followed to this day. So this morning, dig out ‘The Gallery’ and turn the volume up not just one of the best albums of the 90’s, but also one of the best metal albums of all time.
