Kreator have been a mainstay of the thrash scene since the mid-80’s, they have a distinctive style and through that sound and the instantly recognisable voice of Mille Petrozza become one of the most loved and influential thrash bands of all time. This year has Nuclear Blast reissuing Kreator’s seminal 2001 album ‘Violent Revolution’ in a few different formats to suit the needs of any thrash fan.

If you’re the sort of person who just likes the bog-standard version, then this reissue allows you to reacquire ‘Violent Revolution’ on CD, just in case you’ve worn it out over the years and it’s covered in scratches or it has been eaten by the dog, snapped by kids or sold for magic beans… it happens. Furthermore, ‘Violent Revolution’ is also reissued on vinyl, delivered in a limited edition of four different colours. For those Kreator fans who like a little bit more is a two-disc digibook version containing a second disc of live tracks recorded in Brazil, Korea and Germany which also forms the first live disc of the ‘Bootleg Revolution’ set**. Now comes the heavy hitters, the pièce de résistance, this previous digibook version is also available as a limited-edition boxset containing everything on the CD version, plus another two discs of live in Turkey and The Netherlands, but also everything on the previous digipack released on vinyl so that the listener gets a choice as to which medium they would prefer to wank themselves dry to.

‘Violent Revolution’ marked a significant turning point in the fortunes of Kreator following a rather mid-to-late patchy 90’s, the ‘Mille-nnium’ started with a bang and now the listener can acquire this superb album in whatever format they desire.

**’Bootleg Revolution’ will be reviewed separately as it is also a stand-alone release, so make sure you read our review of that right here at the link below to see which version of ‘Violent Revolution’ suits your needs best.

"Kreator started the 'Mille-nnium' with a bang!"
