This afternoon in the Metal Digest office, we’re blasting ‘Permanent Waves’ by Rush! ‘Permanent Waves’ was the sound of Rush moving away from the progressive rock sound of the late 70’s exhibited on the likes of ‘Hemispheres’ and ‘A Farewell to Kings’. This was an album which was streamlined, heralding in a new era of progressive rock for the 80’s and for Rush with tracks such as ‘The Spirit of Radio’ and ‘Freewill’ receiving lots of airplay. However, Rush retained their progressive qualities with the likes of ‘Entre Nous’ and of course the phenomenal ‘Natural Science’. So crank it loud today and let those bright antennas bristle with the energy!
