The Black Capes’ Top 5

The Black Capes are a gothic rock band formed in 2016 from Athens, Greece. They released their first album “All These Monsters” (2017), and second album “Lulabies For The Dead” (2020) via darkTunes records. “All These Monsters” remained on the top

of the German Alternative Charts for one month, and the legendary magazine Orkus presented The Black Capes as “Band of the Month” for June 2017. The European music press took notice in the band, with a great number of reviews and interviews (Legacy, Rock Hard, Metal Hammer, Sonic Seducer).

The new third album was recorded at Devasoundz studios, (Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh, On thorns I Lay etc.), and was produced and mastered by Peter Rutcho (Parkway Drive-IRE, Deez Nuts, Falling in Reverse etc).

It will be released on vinyl,cd and digital via The Council Of Bones in the U.S.A and Ikaros records in Europe.

The bands last pre covid-shows,were with Perturbator and Theatre of Hate. If touring resumes in 2022, the band is planing it’s first Europian and United States tour.

We grabbed the opportunity to connect with the band and learn a bit more about them.

This is The Black Capes’ Top 5

TOP 5 pieces of equipment that every musician must own.

1- A Shure Beta 58A. You can abuse the fuck out of this mic and it will still perform at a high level.

2- Cables, cables and then some more cables. No matter how lucky you feel, it will never be lucky enough when it comes to cables. So have a lot with you.

3- A god damn tuner. It doesn’t matter how much you trust your ears, always tune with a tuner if you want to be 100% sure.

4- A Fender telecaster. You can play almost any genre with a telecaster and it will always sound perfect. Plus it looks like a million bucks

5- A Macbook, if you play with pre-recorded parts.

TOP 5 pieces of advice NOT to follow, to make it in the music industry.

1-2-3-4-5 Get your ass on the road. Everything else you hear is a bunch of bullshit advice.

TOP 5 clicks on your playlist. What are you currently listening to, on repeat?

1- Type O Negative – Love you to death

2- The Kentucky Vampires – Holy Heretic

3- A Cloud of Ravens – When it comes

4- Rob Zombie – The Triumph of King Freak

5- Then Comes Silence – Dark End

TOP 5 adventures you’ve been on with the band.

1- Recording during the lockdown. Not being allowed to be out on the streets, and having to go under the police radar to get to the studio every day, for around 2 months, is an adventure we will never forget.

2- Our drummer owns a funeral home so sometimes he has to leave in the middle of rehearsal to go pick up some dead person or he would pass by with a dead person he has to deliver in his good clothes and be like “ I have to deliver this guy and will come back for the rehearsal”. You never know with this guy.

3- Playing a show in a line up where you are the only band with guitars and are not an electronic music act. The faces of the ready to dance crowd when the first riff hits is priceless, along with what you hear from the crowd while you perform, hahahaha.

4- Me, Thanos and Skinny Kangur of Deathstars wasted as fuck, diving in garbage bins and eating sunscreen for no damn reason.

5- Ask me again one year after the covid era is over, and I will have tons I’m sure.

TOP 5 ways in which your band is awesome.

1- We fight more than any other band and that causes this unique chaotic sound we make.

2- The band members come from so different musical backgrounds, it makes the final blend so colorful, that there is no way you will not find something familiar in our music, no matter what your taste in music is.

3- We are so far from being awesome, that it’s awesome.

4- Most of the lyrics revolve around social issues, sometimes direct, other times as metaphors. We are romantics and believe music has the strength to change the world, or at least make it think outside of the box.

5- We play Gothic rock and Gothic rock is just awesome.
