THE LOCAL SHOW: January | MadHouse

Metal Digest in collaboration with Local Stage Worldwide, digs into local scenes and pulls out some gold.

We are setting the stage for bands worth your attention and we’re riding the waves of local scenes to bring you sounds that you need to check out now.

This month we are bringing you MadHouse

MadHouse is an Italian female-fronted hard rock/alternative metal band, formed in 2012,
captained by the charismatic singer Federica Tringali and the guitarist Filippo Anfossi.
Federica decided to christen the band MadHouse, to highlight the existing parallelism between
art and madness.
Basing her lyrics on strong and direct life experiences, she wrote numerous songs of great
potential.
Four of these tracks have been chosen to be part of the EP “You Want More” published in 2015
(under ICM label) and produced by one of the leading Italian producers Marco Barusso (Lacuna
Coil, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Coldplay).
“You Want More” received immediate recognition by critics and got considerable airplay from
various FM and web radios in Italy, Germany, Spain, and the UK.
MadHouse entered the studio to work on their first full-length this time under the artistic
direction of Eddy Cavazza (Fear Factory, Logan Mader, Saeko, Dan Korneff, Alteria, Trick or
Treat) for DysFUNCTION Record Label and Productions this time.
“MadHouse Hotel”, released on March 29th, 2019, is a 10 tracks concept album about different
experiences we have to face in our lives. Every song represents a hotel room in which the
listeners choose to stop to look for their dimensions.
Listening to the song means getting the key to the room.
“MadHouse Hotel” got worldwide airplay and it received several national and international credit
and awards.
The band then promoted the album with a live tour that saw them play in many Italian and
European cities.
Federica and Filippo are currently back in the studio working on the new album.

MadHouse shared the stage with these amazing artists:
• Trevor (Sadist)
• Giacomo Voli (Rhapsody of Fire)
• Pino Scotto
• Cayne

Welcome to Metal Digest

What is your musical background and how did this lead to you creating the band?

Our musical background is very heterogeneous and ranges from rock to punk to metal.

The bands and artists that all of us like are Iron Maiden, Doro Pech, Alice Cooper, Poets Of The Fall, Danko Jones. All this affected the sound of the band.

What aspect of your local scene do you most enjoy?

The Italian live music scene is very complicated. There are few venues dedicated to live music, especially for underground music.

Fortunately, we are based in Milan which is one of the most important centers for music in the city of Rome.

How have connections with other local bands or with the local the community helped to build your project?

In Italy, the support between bands is almost non-existent. The mentality abroad is completely different, better, and inclusive we have the greatest and the best support from foreign bands, radios, and webzines.

What, in your eyes, makes your band unique?

I think the main ingredients are: attitude, the vocal timbre of the singer, and communication.

How do you plan to take your music career beyond your local area?

We are currently working in the studio on our third album.

We hope to go back on tour in Italy and Europe as we did with our last album and to finally play in the US.
