Mental Health Focus | Metal Digest Community Shares

One last story before we let Heavy Metal Therapy take over our brand new column on Metal Digest.

”I was recently diagnosed as autistic – at 44 years old. This explained a lot – I have violent meltdowns.
We all know the struggle it is to be a teenager, add to that having a heart condition, watching your uncle die of that heart condition, know that you will someday go the same way, divorced parents, and then not understanding certain things going on in my head – frustrations, loneliness, not being able to communicate properly. My saving grace was Megadeth and Suicidal Tendencies. I blasted Megadeth all night long sometimes, and I wore out the Lights, Camera, Revolution cassette. When I saw Suicidal Tendencies live, my life was changed forever. The release that I was able to feel while slamming against others in unison to the emotional songs like “How Will I Laugh Tomorrow…”
I’ve been making metal music ever since (first as The Raygun Girls and now as Titanosaur). My vocals and heavy riffing are how I get out my frustrations before they turn into violent meltdowns.”

We will keep the conversation going and we will be sharing interviews, playlists, articles and resources so stay tuned for more!
