Questions on the Go | Ghastly Murder

GHASTLY MURDER-Born of frustration. Music with something of the night lurking beneath… You deary, are invited…come this way.

The elements of (Mr.E’s) Ghastly Murder were fused together, formed and created out of a desire to make music that did not follow the obvious paths. It is music to stir and touch the blackest of hearts and the darkest of souls. It is Art , it is darkness. An audio experience which to make music without restraints or boundaries. It has elements within the Gothic culture but not exclusive to it.Mr.E (Singer/songwriter/ guitarist with the Filthy Spectacula) & friends – both real and imaginary make this music . Truth be know it is mainly a solo project playing songs (de) composed by Mr.E (Gary Emmins esquire)- songs of debauchery , death, drugs ,doubt and decadance, decline, danger and beauty ……that you can dance to and can transport you, that can hold you, that can destroy youMusic for the bold and the brave and not for the faint of heart.

We got to ask Ghastly Murder a few Questions on the Go.

Please describe the band in a single sentence.

GHASTLY MURDER are a cacophony of sound  & vision that  conjures up  ‘something of the night’ within a whirlwind of guitars drums within the  songs that will haunt you forever

What’s your latest project and what are you working on right now?

I am in the process of releasing a 6 track EP – a track at a time- called  ‘The Rise & Demise Of Gory Emminence; So far  songs released are a  summoning of the ancient gods in a song called TWITCH and a dark ditty called CHLOROFORM which tells the tale of an obsessive collector….. other songs from this EP are called ‘YOU’RE GHOSTS’ which is about possession in both meanings of the word, TALKING TO THE DEAD  a song about blind faith and charlatans, ‘HELL IS OTHER PEOPLE ‘- the title says it all …and a song about the stalking of addiction called ‘LOVE ME’

How do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?

Like they have been taken away on a journey  via either the music or the words of the songs I want an audience to feel a mixture of excitement flowing through their veins punching the air to the tunes but all  tinged with an the element of the macabre  ensconced within a feral post apocalyptic pagan like celebrationary  dance

Major influences: Who put you on this path?

I have always been attracted to bands that are both visual as well as great songwriters and musicians. I feel a band needs to be a full sensory experience for you/us to be a part of that world – so as much as I love bands I would say I am equally as influenced by films and television- something to see as well as hear- I think this is where our major influences come from as we filter the best of both worlds out into our art

If you had to flee the country as a band, where would you choose to live?

Not sure …Transylvania? – or New Orleans or somewhere where there is sunshine ( yeah ironic I know) and music and culture and a decent bar

What’s the ‘wow factor’ that makes YOU decide which songs to keep, record and release?

A song from us will go through a birthing procedure – it will get demoed, tested out and re arranged into shape before it is ready to be let loose. If we  all love the vibe and the melody of the song and if it is as catchy as a social disease then it tends to make it onto the set list- every song we do though has to be equal or better than we already have- no filler all killer as they say

What’s the most hilarious band memory you can think of?

These are not funny at the time but they are in retrospect- I was in a band that broke up mid song on stage once, emotions had been a bit raw for a bit between various members at it all came to a head mid song mid set.

I also played a set in a bar in London once that was like witnessing those massive wild west brawls that you see on television- we were on the relative safety of the stage  but as we played (I suppose we were now the soundtrack for the riot) as all hell broke loose around us.

I also once fell off stage from a hight and that hurt like fuck  but I played it as though it was all part of the show- how I suffer for my art!!!

What would be the title of the band’s biography?

Karma sutra 2 …..or  maybe ‘ Mad Bad & Dangerous to know ‘ – which is a quote from Byron  but I think it suits

What’s the next milestone you’d like to achieve as a band?

I would  like to expand on the EP and record a full albums worth of songs . I have a loose concept album project in mind that I would like  to do.

I currently produce the music for GHASTLY MURDER by working with various musicians and friends but for this band to progress and flourish I would like to build a live performing band to bring the world of GHASTLY MURDER to life – but to do so I need to find the RIGHT musical partners for that-

Build the fan base- we are in our embryo stages but we have vision , drive and ambition
