We seem to be in a golden age of reissues, every big band has a remaster/reissue of their discography (barring a few glaring exceptions, looking at you Judas Priest/Black Sabbath). But several labels have taken it as their duty to take those albums that are less known and give them the reissue they so sorely deserve. Once again, High Roller Records have come to the rescue as they give cult heavy metal band The Rods the reissue treatment with their ‘Heavier Than Thou’ album.
Granted, it wasn’t actually that long ago that ‘Heavier Than Thou’ weas reissued on CD, but what High Roller Records deliver here is also an actual vinyl reissue of the album. A vinyl reissue will only have the appeal to those people vested in the ways of the vinyl resurgence, there are no extras that could tantalise those who already own this album to part ways with cash and splurge on this… well, that is unless you’re a vinyl junkie, then what you’ll get is a limited-edition vinyl available in three differing colours that has been remastered. However, the CD version of ‘Heavier Than Thou’ does come with a few bonus tracks, live performances and outtake which does offer a little bit more bang for your buck.
If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, then this will have no affect on your life whatsoever, what are you even still reading for? But, if you’re a fan of The Rods, then ‘Heavier Than Thou’ is a bloody good choice to go for, it’s a fantastic album of heavy metal that has been packaged and delivered wonderfully by High Roller Records.
