We got to ask them a few Questions on the Go.

Welcome to Metal Digest!

Please describe the band in a single sentence.

Vanilla Sugar is made of Alt Electronic music, a pop vocal sensibility, mixed with a Metal influence.

What’s your latest project and what are you working on right now?

My latest release is the album, She. I would love to know what you think of it! It is available to stream from your favorite music outlet, and physical copies are available from my merch store. I am currently working on booking tours for next year! I am very excited to get back to performing. I have upcoming UK & US dates with The Birthday Massacre in March and November.

How do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?

I talk about some pretty heavy topics in the songs. Songwriting is very therapeutic for me.

I want people to feel like they aren’t alone.

Music did that for me when I was younger and going through all of these emotions that I didn’t know how to control.

Major influences: Who put you on this path?

My dad is a drummer; I feel like I was born into it. My grandfather was a trumpet player, and my grandmother was a singer and piano player as well. My dad also sings, plays harmonica, and took piano lessons when I was super little, and I too, enrolled in piano lessons with his instructor when I was four.

If you had to flee the country as a band, where would you choose to live?

I would love to find an isolated island somewhere and see if I could make due. I’m a Pisces. I love the water. I had a teacher in junior high that told me she owned a private island. I have always had that in the back of my mind since then.

What’s the ‘wow factor’ that makes YOU decide which songs to keep, record and release?

For me, I appreciate a catchy melody or hook, and I like for the song to sound original; not cookie cutter, if you will. I also love anything half-time with a nice heavy synth.

What’s the most hilarious band memory you can think of?

I have these light sticks that I use on stage. I was performing one time and when I turned, I accidentally hit myself on the head!! Haha I played it off like it was nothing, but it hurt!

What would be the title of the band’s biography?

Sticker Than Sugar.

What’s the next milestone you’d like to achieve as a band?

The next milestone would be completing album number 2! I have a lot of ideas and can’t wait to try them out!

Come on in!
