After reforming in 2014 and assembling a new line-up in 2018, Elimination have been busy playing live dates, well, until COVID changed that. This forced the British thrashers to go from the stage and into the studio recording the 2020 EP ‘Of Gods and Beasts’ and now less than a year later, Elimination are back with their second studio album ‘Echoes of the Abyss’.

What Elimination bring forth with ‘Echoes…’ is a furious album of thrash metal that belts out of the traps faster than a whippet chasing a stuffed rabbit. This is a thunderous album that doesn’t let up, but also this is not album that is one dimensional or entirely one paced; for a band’s second album, ‘Echoes…’ is expertly crafted with the skill and guile of a trio who know how to write thrash metal down to a tee. There is some excellent guitar playing throughout, particularly during ‘This is War’ and frothing ‘Victims by Design’, the former of which features Aarran Tucker, the vocalist of fellow UK thrashers Shrapnel.

Is there anything here that hasn’t been done before though? Nah, nor does ‘Echoes…’ need that. This is good old fashioned thrash metal delivered through a contemporary edge which leads the listener begging for more and really, what is better than that?
