Questions on the Go: Blind Hex

Mexican band BLIND HEX recently released their debut single entitled “Sorrowless”,dubbing their sound as Neo Symphonic Metal, mixing the traditional elements ofSymphonic Metal with electronic and modern sounds.

We got to ask them a few questions on the go!

Welcome to Metal Digest!

Please describe the band in a single sentence.

S&F: Thank you very much for having us.

We are BLIND HEX, a Neo Symphonic metal band from Mexico

What’s your latest project and what are you working on right now?

F: Well, I’m a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and mixing engineer. I have produced classical, jazz, pop, urban, rock and metal music. Now I am also a member of the melodic death metal band, Sense of Noise. Sharon, in addition to being a singer in various musical genres, she is also a songwriter and actress. She has been involved in many metal bands in Mexico, one of them was “DOMINHUZ”. Currently she is working on her solo Álbum “Hypatia”.

We met in 2020 and founded Blind Hex this year (2021). Our priority is to be able to release a couple more singles this year so that we can release the full album next year.

How do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?

S&F: We think that It Is all about feeling It. We want them to vibrate! Our music and the lyrics are an exhibition from within both of us with the intention of generating in the viewer a moment of sensitivity guided by an orchestra and guitars that can make the skin crawl, as well as creating an honest and true lyrics so they can all, lyrics, music and voice, make the body throb.

Major influences: Who put you on this path?

S: We both have a common affinity and admiration for similar artists. Our main influences in metal music are bands like Within Temptation, Nithing More, Nightwish, Epica, Tesseract, In This Moment, among others.

If you had to flee the country as a band, where would you choose to live?

S&F: Somewhere in Europe with a nice view of the mountains and enough budget to build a house/studio in the middle of nowhere.

What’s the ‘wow factor’ that makes YOU decide which songs to keep, record and release?

F: Precisely,  a ‘wow’ reaction from the band (both of us in this case). In a general manner, we are constantly working on ironing out details and making things sound better, but until we both hit a point where we are almost speechless, we do not stop trying to make things better. A phrase I always say to my clients and try to apply to my own music is: Aim to make the song you would like to hear.

What’s the most hilarious band memory you can think of?

F: We have been working exclusively at the studio and we really keep to ourselves when we’re there. However, we are constantly messing around and cracking each other up.

What would be the title of the band’s biography?

F: A duo of insane survivors

What’s the next milestone you’d like to achieve as a band?

F&S: Releasing the album could be considered a milestone, but we believe it’s just a small stepping stone into bigger things. That being said, we would love to be on tour as an opening act to any of our favorite metal bands.

Until we meet again,
