Italian Psyche Metallers Ananda Mida’s recently released “Karnak” is a three-track release of live and alternate versions taken from their first two full-length albums, “Cathodnatius” and “Anodnatius”. Recorded during summer shows in 2018 and 2019, Max Ear’s collective showcase their talents for jamming and re-constructing existing songs in a live setting, with gust guitar from Mario Lalli on “Jam with Mario” (snappy title alert!) and vocals from Conny Ochs on the outstanding closing track “The Pilot”.
Clever use of guitar tones, evoking everyone from Stoned Jesus to U2’s The Edge, and with clean and crisp drums from lead member Max Ear, the only downside to the package is a slight hollowness to the sound; hopefully this won’t be so with the vinyl release.
Fun fact; the vinyl is three tracks on one side, and a lithographed print on the other.
