For any fans of Kyuss, this is an album that feels like putting on a comfortable pair of slippers.
It’s an album clearly made simply because they wanted to make it, and it shows it with groovy, growling bass underpinning full, grungy guitar riffs reminiscent of Orange Goblin, all neatly wrapped up in a raw and punchy mix.
There’s nothing groundbreaking here, but that’s exactly what it’s here for. It’s simple, good old fashioned stoner rock, with a helping of blues thrown seemingly out of nowhere, in the most interesting and different direction the album takes, seemingly incorporating elements of Louisiana blues.
After a couple of back to back listens, the feeling is that it has nothing more to do, but as a relatively short album, it’s not a massive setback. Overall a very solid and welcome new project by familiar and well-loved names, exactly what the world needs right now.
